African knights

And another mail I got this night was from Dirk Risser who painted me the second of my Sokoto-Califate cavalrymen. I like these funny colourful guys:-)))

They are for sell at my shop www.fritz-figures.de and within one week in our new shop Hagen-miniatures.com.

Rocroi - news from the workbench

Beside Massimo who sent photos of his dead an wounded which he sculpted after the painting he got and which for sure he already put on Benno's forum (:-))), this moring I got this photos from Alfred of figures "cut" by Deniz - or sculpted if you like the word.

I told you, he is carving the figures from wood. See here the proof of it

And here the first masters for the Schutztruppe

Massimo made a good job here. First of all we concentrate on the Rocroi project as I need the figures here fast to start painting the units, but between all this 17th century stuff it is always fun to make something different.

So take a look here at the first three figures for the German Schutztruppe in Deutsch Südwest for the 1904/05 campaign against the Herero and Nama.
And of course these figures can be used for the short campaign in 1914 too as well as German East-Asia brigade in the Boxer uprising.

Massimo's charge of the light Brigade

You know from my own production (ok, more the lesser aknowledged Turks:-I)) that I am also interested in the Crimean war. Well is there any period I am not interested?

Ok, Massimo sent this photos of his charge of the light brigade. When I counted right 52 figures and he wrote me that he has 20 unpainted ones more.

I always thought about creating a diorama for this attack as just around 670 horsemen are not as big a problem as we had in the past with for example 800 Austrian chevaulegers alone for Aspern.
We have the sets of Strelets and Emhar and several metals like Tumbling Dice and Douglas miniatures as well as old Minifigs S-range. But still to make it lively you need a lot of poses to mix. And you need casualities.

Massimo now offered to sell his complete charge for 800 Euro. Not too bad in my eyes and if I can scratch the money together I would think about it. But maybe you are faster?

If you are interested in the figures, send Massimo a mail at daikaigan@hotmail.it and I am sure he would be glad to give it away. But now see what you can get for your money

A nice little diorama from the Franco-Prussian war

Two days ago Erik Trauner sent me this photos of a small diorama he made for this subject.
As I liked the photos very much, I thought you might be interested in them too. You know I use everything to make you interested in the subject:-))

But it is not just this diorama here, Erik already has his own homepage where you can see a lot of his works. Really great stuff!!

And my next plans for the own production - Schutztruppe

You know I always have a lot of ideas in mind.

The Rocroi production goes forward, the 1870 French are available and the Bavarians are waiting to be casted now. Wellington in India got four new figures and I thought it is time for a new project.

This could be interesting for vignette collectors and big armies. You know my faible for colonials. Most of the figures available are British and just a few French.  As a German I wanted to cover my own countries colonial history too. So now I decided to start with the Herero uprising and the Nama campaign of 1904-05.

If you want more information on the subject in English take a look at Wikipedia. A group of Reenactors
has a homepage too. And for uniforms there is a great homepage about German colonial uniforms.

For the German readers it is very easy to find material on the subject. A lot of books were written before WW1 and even modern autors publishing from time to time. The modern ones you can see at amazon.

A German painter Carl Becker made a complete series of paintings for this campaig which I sent to Massimo to ask him to sculpt me some after them. You know he is a master of creating figure groups after a painting.

So these is what could be available this year

So what do you think about this idea?
